There is nothing more exciting than a Queenstown holiday with the whole family. You will relax fully and have lots of fun. For enjoying the best possible experience, you should plan everything from the travel and accommodation to the activities in advance. Consider the following family activity ideas to get inspired.

Skiing and Snowboarding

Even though the winder in Queenstown is from the beginning of June to the end of August, the ski season covers the whole of September and the first 10 days of October as well. The Coronet Peak and The Remarkables parks are the closest to the resort town and offer ideal facilities for beginners as well as for experienced skiers and snowboarders. They are great for families with children of virtually any age.

Kayaking and Rafting

These are fun, relaxing and perfectly safe water sports for adults and children of all ages. There are many different routes to explore in the local area. You can kayak or raft along the shores of Lake Wakatipu and Kawarau River.

Biking

This is a favourite activity of both children and adults and Queenstown offers excellent opportunities for it. You can select any of the trails around the town depending on your preferences and level of preparation. There are bike hire shops around the entire town so it is easy to find one. You can also consider the various biking tours available. You can go around the entire lake Wakatipu or visit some of the local farmhouses and vineyards by bike. Some tours involve boat rides, helicopter rides and even hiking to make the experience even more memorable.

Mini Golf and Ice Skating

If you are looking for more relaxed, but equally fun family activities, you should definitely consider mini golf. CaddyShack City Mini Golf is one of the most popular attractions in the resort town and not without reason. The course can give you many hours of endless family entertainment. Queenstown Ice Arena offers excellent opportunities for ice skating. If this is not enough for you, you can also play ice hockey and try figure skating.

Tours and Excursions

You should certainly not miss to take the famous Shotover jet tour to enjoy the beauty of the unique Shotover River. The steamship cruises are also quite popular with tourists of all ages. You can take a helicopter tour over the surrounding mountains. The tours to Milford Sound are also worth considering. A tour of the Goldfields Mining Centre will take you back to the mid 19th century when gold was discovered in Otago.

You should definitely try to enjoy all of these activities during your Queenstown holiday.
